Budget control is also coupled with continuous improvement activities resulting in higher productivity and reduction of waste in the manufacturing process.

Cell Manufacturing Concept Focuses on Production Efficiency and Customer Needs

Production facilities are set up to focus towards meeting customer needs and to ensure high production efficiency. Every cell specialised in supporting specific customers needs. Operational accountability of each cell includes material planning, production know-how, process documentation, quality and product delivery. Using the cell production methods, quality issues can be easily contained, traced, documented and actions taken to addressed them. All the know-how acquired within the cell grows with the customers, meaning that each cell will be able to anticipate and attend to its customers’ requirements effectively. This ensures high responsiveness to meeting customer demands.

The Company recognized the need for skilled employees in view of the technical nature of its business, which is in the production of high precision components. SPM’s manufacturing capabilities need to be strongly supported by high value-adding activities such as the design and development of tools, dies, moulds, jigs, fixtures and electro-mechanical assemblies. The Company has in its employment, experienced and able engineers, technical personnel, machinists and top management staff who are technically competent in understanding customer requirements and translating them into deliverables that meet the customer’s specifications.

Strong Credibility with Customers

Customers have continued to put their faith in SPM even after it has acquired Supreme Machinery Co.,Ltd. To date, the management of SPM is able to identify at least 8 customers (local and international) which has long term relationships with the Company since the days of SM, continued to provide orders to SPM consistently on the monthly basis.

Following the management’s policy to commit fully to its customers on continuous improvement programs to ensure high productivity and product quality, SPM take pride in their ability to command respect from its customers. Customers also often refer new projects to SPM due to the Company being credible.

Staying Close with Customers through Efficient Production Planning

One of the key philosophies for the Company to remain competitive is to remain ‘close’ to its customers. Customers abroad i.e in France need not worry about doing business with SPM as the Company ensures its products will be shipped on time at a competitive priced just if the customers procured those parts locally in their own country. The Company achieved this by ensuring and continuously improved on its production planning capabilities.

Efficient production planning means ability to anticipate customer demands, logistic issues and ensuring problem-free manufacturing of customers’ components and machines.
